The Duomo, Milan’s Cathedral, is the most important gothic architectural work in Italy. From its rooftop terraces you can have a breathtaking view of the city, looking between the famous spires called "guglie".
The construction of the Duomo of Milan Italy lasted more than 500 years. Construction began in 1386 and the decoration of the façade was completed at the beginning of the 19th century.
The Cathedral is dedicated to the Nativity of St Mary (Santa Maria Nascente), the patroness of Milan and milanese people, that is represented by a golded copper statue, on the main spire of Milan’s Duomo. This statue, known as "Madonnina" has been the symbol of Milan since 1774.

A visit to the roof of Duomo Milan is a must for visitors in Milan. To get to the roof, you can take the lift up or use the stairs located on the south side of the Cathedral. On the rooftop, along with the "guglie", you will also see the famous "Madonnina" statue.
From the the Duomo terraces Milan you will have a beautiful view of Milan and the surrounding area, for example you will be able to see the Sforza Castle Milano and many other monuments of the city, but also to admire the wonderful gothic architecture of the Cathedral.
